At the IAA 2008 Commercial Vehicle Show; Harold Schomburg (in charge of VWCV Sales and Marketing) confirmed that VWCV is interested in partnering with Indian and Chinese manufacturers in a joint venture initiative in each country.
He even stated at this stage there is nothing within the current VWCV brand suited to the Indian market; currently VWCV is testing the response of the T5 and Crafter vans in India.
Harold also revealed a plan the is in motion in Russia; VWCV are planning to launch a T5 based truck to test if market specific vehicle is viable option for the brand.
The authors own experience with the Chinese market sales; shows that the FAW Volkswagen joint venture that produces the Caddy Life; has not been a Chinese success story for VWCV that the VW Passenger cars has.
I believe that market specific VW Commercial Vehicles globally is a must for future growth.
