Car and Driver Second Drive - 2011 Infiniti M56 Prototype

Car and Driver - Still New and Improved: We Sample the Latest 2011 Infiniti M56 Prototype
Two months ago, Car and Driver took prototype versions of the 2011 Infiniti M37x and M56 for a first drive. While they were thoroughly impressed by the V6 equipped M37x, the V8 M56 left a lot to be desired. At the time, Infiniti said that they were still working on fine tuning the M56. Last week, during the L.A. Auto show, Infiniti allowed Car and Driver to sample a more developed version of the M56 sedan.

The Infiniti Essence - Still A Possibility For Production?

The Infiniti Essence - Still A Possibility For Production?
Motor Trend recently attended the private showing for the new 2011 M and 2010 G at the SLS Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles. Due to the phenomenal reaction to the Essence Concept, Shiro Nakamura and Ben Poore have hinted that a production version of the car is not completely off the table:

"...Another Infiniti exec, Shiro Nakamura, casually mentioned that the show-stopping Essence concept is "only a showpiece...for now." Poore tells Motor Trend that reaction to the concept has been phenomenal and that the company is studying the possibility of a production model, but no decision has been made yet."

This could potentially be extremely good news for the brand. Our take: Carlos Ghosn has previously mentioned that he wanted to make more use out of the GT-R's Premium Midship platform. This would be the perfect opportunity. Our thought would be to use the GT-R's platform and internals, nix the AWD system, and add the Essence's elegant looks. All of the most important components have already been developed and it could potentially be a true halo car for the brand.

Motor Trend - Getting Around: 2011 Infiniti M And 2010 Infiniti G Get A Private Showing
Are automakers abandoning the traditional auto show model? As with the Cadillac CTS Coupe and Chevrolet Volt and Cruze, the new Infiniti M and G vehicles both eschewed the show floor in favor of a private debut down the road at a glitzy Beverly Hills hotel.

Take a look over Infiniti's current line-up and two vehicles stand out: The M and the QX. Both vehicles have been soldiering on while the brand's volume models (G and FX) have undergone major redesigns, leaving Infiniti's flagship sedan and hulking SUV toiling away unchanged since 2003 and 2004, respectively.

Tonight, that changes.

Stylish and powerful, the new M improves in every way.
In a quiet, tucked-away corner on the outskirts of Los Angeles, Infiniti invited a few media members to a very early drive of the 2011 M37 and M56. Naturally our cross hairs were squarely set on the M56, with its 5.6-liter V-8 pumping out 420 bhp and 400 lb.-ft. of torque; however, after driving the company's future flagship sedan, we were informed by the engineers that it was far from the final version, and it was not at all representative of what the car will be like when it hits dealer showrooms in April.

Sticking with the athletic cut.
Infiniti has styled itself as the Japanese BMW, but for most of the two decades the brand has been around, its products haven’t measured up to those from the German company. Recently, though, we’ve watched the G sedan and coupe evolve into some mighty formidable competition for the 3-series, while the current M is a multiple comparison-test winner in the medium-size, luxury-sport segment, which includes the Audi A6, the BMW 5-series, the Lexus GS, and the Mercedes E-class, among others.

Infiniti Announces China Market Only G25 Sedan, G25 Coupe, and EX25 Crossover

Nissan China Investment Co., Ltd. imported cars general manager Takeshi Kawakita officially announced: "Infiniti will be officially introducing the world's first for the Chinese market 2.5-liter engine equipped G25 luxury sports sedan, G25 luxury sports coupe, and EX25 luxury crossover. These models will soon enter China."

The 2.5-liter V6 engine uses low-friction molybdenum coated pistons, symmetrical intake and exhaust systems, and continuously variable valve timing control system (CVTCS). This engine will be using the most advanced technology. This engine will achieve 235 horsepower at 6,400 RPM and 197 lb.ft of torque at 4,800 RPM. In addition to the high performance engine, the 2.5-liter model adds a Chinese menu, real-time road traffic information system, automatic healing of minor scratches, and many other new high-tech features, including intimate design and high-tech applications to make it more competitive.

Mr. Kawakita also announced: "The G25's price range will be between RMB 390,000 yuan to 410,000 yuan. The EX25’s the price range will be between RMB 500,000 yuan to 540,000 yuan. This marks the beginning Infiniti's product strategy for less than 3.0-liter displacement to the extension of the following models. These two models ranges will start selling soon after the China Auto Show. This not only confirms that Infiniti attaches great importance and commitment to the Chinese market, but also Infiniti continues to write the next year for brilliant achievements in infinite power.

Autoblog Review - 2009 Infiniti G37x Sport Makes No Excuses

Autoblog Review - 2009 Infiniti G37x Sport Makes No Excuses
"Being close" matters with horseshoes, hand grenades and misguided arithmetic. In past years, the Infiniti G sedan has been close, but compared to the Kaiser of the Klasse, BMW's 3 Series, the G35 was near the stake, but not a ringer. "Almost as good," we'd all nod, "but its biggest strength is that it's a bargain."
